Day 16 - #30paintingsin30days - Life Drawing

Life Drawing at the Art Academy, 1976
Today is Day 16 of the #30paintingsin30days. The theme of this challenge is “Thirty Things You May Not Know About the Artist."
Today's painting is inspired by a photo that I took in my life drawing class during my years the Art Academy of Cincinnati (1974-1978). The Academy, which has a strong focus on traditional realism, would require 4 hours of life drawing for four years for graduation requirements. A very fast paced and intense schedule, our classes were located in the original Art Academy building in Eden Park. I love this photo as it shows the students, in the exact same classroom that master artist Frank Duveneck (1848-1919) would also teach life drawing at the Academy in 1919. Frank Duveneck students were know as the "Duveneck Boys" which consisted of well known master artists Henry Twachtman, Herman Wessel, John Johansen.
